A photography purist’s view of post-production.

RGV Photography Workshops presents Jackie's Vintage Portrait

I actively discourage students from using the computer to hide their mistakes. Instead I teach them to use it to “complete the vision.” Don’t use computer action/presets to distract the viewer with its effects. Let the image shine on it’s own, and use the computer effect to polish while maintaining the image’s integrity.

This image is a good example. It’s from last night’s Jackie Pinup shoot. This dress was modest and lent itself to a period piece type of portrait.
