RGV Photography Workshops

Student Retro Project

Photographer: AC Baez

Every year our intermediate and advanced students produce a retro shoot as a photography project.

They pick a decade, then choose a theme for their work. These projects are supposed reflect all the lessons they have learned, leading up to the Retro project.

This year, photography student, AC Baez seleted the 50’s comic book era as the theme for his retro project. The makeup, the backdrop, and the model selection was all on point.

A lot of pre-production setup and planning went into the image. First, AC had a very complex idea. Then as the pre-production progressed and as he experimented with the lighting, this idea evolved from it.

Everything was super important; the selctions of the makeup artist able to pull it off and who shared the same vision, the right backdrop, and the right model.

Congratulations AC! The image is impressive and worth all the planning and pre-production.
